Senior Art Director

Summary

Join Canva's International Marketing team as a Senior Art Director and redefine how the world experiences design. Based in Brazil, this 6-month contract role offers remote work flexibility. You will collaborate closely with the Creative Director to elevate Canva's visual presence in Brazil and Mexico. Responsibilities include leading visual direction for campaigns, designing storyboards, pitching concepts, and collaborating with vendors. The ideal candidate possesses proven design experience in advertising and branding, strong motion design skills, and native-level Portuguese and strong English skills.

Requirements

• Have proven design experience in advertising and branding
• Have strong design skills and a solid understanding of motion design, with experience leading projects from start to finish
• Have an understanding that spans digital design, product design, and Figma is key to ensuring that your vision is fully realised
• Be excited to jump on Canva to design
• Have Native-level Portuguese and strong English skills (we’re a global team, so English is part of our day-to-day)

Responsibilities

• Lead the visual direction for brand, product, and performance campaigns, keeping every project fresh, consistent, and innovative
• Design simple, powerful storyboards for ads and hype reels that bring Canva to life
• Confidently pitch concepts and present work to senior creative leaders, product marketing managers, and stakeholders, clearly articulating the creative vision and strategic approach
• Write with the same creativity and clarity you bring to your designs
• Be passionate about exceptional art direction and design that’s not just beautiful but also thoughtful, meaningful, and, when it needs to be, provocative
• Collaborate with external vendors, providing clear art direction guidance and feedback to help elevate their work
• Work closely with the Creative Director to ensure schedules are accurate and realistic and that deadlines are met
