Senior Backend Engineer

Summary

Requirements

• Have a Masters of Computer Science or Engineering (or a related technical discipline) and 6+ years of experience of backend product development
• Have experience in development with several programming languages, including Python, Golang and Typescript
• Have experience in implementing data schemas and efficient queries for structured and unstructured databases such as Postgres and Elasticsearch
• Have experience with backend service deployment, including cloud environments such as AWS, and provisioning tools such as Terraform and AWS CloudFormation
• Be able to implement and automate comprehensive testing and deployment strategies and work alongside Technical Architects and Operations to support a mature release process for our products
• Have good knowledge of security best practices, including authentication, authorization, and encryption for both data and infrastructure
• Have an Agile mindset, excellent problem-solving skills and strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise our back-end services and infrastructure, to continuously improve efficiency, performance and quality
• Work with other engineers, data scientists and product managers to implement our short-term roadmap and long-term strategy
• Proactively drive changes to products, systems, processes and code collaboratively in a continuous improvement environment, including the delivery of a quarterly OKR process
• Be able to collaborate and communicate effectively across the whole organization
• Bring a strong sense of ownership and leadership to the team, to drive a first class engineering culture
• Proactively invest time in mentoring, learning and career development, both for yourself and for your peers

Preferred Qualifications

Have experience mentoring and coaching other members of the team, and interest in learning and developing in other engineering and data science skills
