Senior Backend Engineer

Summary

Join Lingoda, a fast-growing online language learning company, as a Senior Backend Engineer! Based in Berlin or remotely in Europe, you will collaborate with a full-stack team to build high-quality software for our online platform. You will contribute to product architecture improvements and tackle both business features and technical tasks. This role requires 5+ years of experience with PHP, Symfony, and Doctrine, along with expertise in OOP, design patterns, and modern architectural approaches. Requirements

• 5+ years of solid experience creating web applications using PHP, Symfony 5/6/7, and Doctrine
• Good knowledge and practical experience with OOP and design patterns, as well as with modern architectural approaches
• Experience with DDD, hexagonal architecture, and TDD
• Passionate about code quality. Writing tests and documentation belongs to your natural workflow
• Working with product managers, designers, and frontend engineers to solve a common goal
• Communication skills – Strong verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with the engineering team
• Fluent English skills (C level)

• You are able to cooperate with team members and share knowledge and experience with them

Responsibilities

• Work with a full-stack engineering team, building high-quality, efficient, reliable, and elegant software
• Help us build a perfect product for online language learning and contribute to improving our product architecture
• Not just delivering business features but also tackling purely technical tasks and cleaning up the existing code
• Maintain awareness of industry issues and trends, particularly regarding usability and emerging technologies
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to deliver new functionalities
