Requirements

  • Strong alignment with our mission: A deep passion for using technology to enhance public safety and support government agencies
  • 5+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably with 2+ years in-house at a technology or SaaS company
  • B2B SaaS experience: Extensive experience drafting, negotiating, and managing contracts related to B2B SaaS products, including subscription-based agreements, licensing agreements, and enterprise-level contracts
  • Experience selling into government entities: Proven track record of supporting legal transactions and contract negotiations in the public sector, including familiarity with government procurement processes and federal, state and local regulatory compliance
  • Channel partner contracting experience: Expertise in setting up contractual relationships with channel partners, such as resellers, distributors, and systems integrators
  • Strategic thinker with practical solutions: Ability to identify and address legal risks while providing creative, business-minded solutions
  • Strong communication skills: Ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly to non-legal stakeholders, especially cross-functional teams
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities: Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, sometimes out of your area of comfort and expertise
  • Juris Doctor (JD) in good standing and licensed to practice law in at least one state

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage negotiations, drafting, and reviewing of a wide variety of commercial contracts: primarily SaaS agreements with government customers, but also channel and technology partner and vendor, agreements
  • Provide day-to-day legal support and guidance on commercial transactions, advising internal stakeholders on legal risks, opportunities, and strategies
  • Work with teams across Mark43 to ensure compliance with existing agreements, and more generally with laws, regulations, and industry standards applicable to the public safety and government technology sectors
  • Partner with sales, product, finance, and operations teams to advise on legal implications of business strategies, deal structures, and business development efforts
  • Educate internal stakeholders on relevant legal issues, best practices, and risk management strategies related to contracts, data privacy, intellectual property, and other commercial matters
  • Contribute to Mark43’s long-term strategic planning, helping identify and mitigate legal risks while supporting business growth and expansion into new markets
  • Expand your skillset and take on new responsibilities outside your traditional areas of expertise

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as an in-house legal generalist (i.e. corporate, employment, compliance)
  • Residence within the tri-state area
