Summary
Join Kraken Digital Asset Exchange's Compliance team as a Senior Compliance Associate specializing in Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA)! This fully remote position based in Ireland offers a unique opportunity to shape the company's regulatory strategy within the EU, ensuring alignment with MiCA obligations. You will provide expert guidance on MiCA compliance, refine compliance policies and procedures, monitor regulatory developments, deliver compliance training, and support internal reporting. Collaborate with various internal teams and external partners, including regulators. This role requires a minimum of 5 years' experience in financial services compliance, ideally with crypto-asset exposure, and a solid understanding of the EU regulatory landscape. You will be a key player in ensuring Kraken's platform and products maintain a robust compliance framework.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in financial services compliance, ideally with exposure to crypto-assets, fintech, or digital financial services
- Solid comprehension of the EU regulatory landscape, with knowledge of MICA/EMI/MiFID or CBI
- Proven cross-functional communication skills, with experience working alongside internal teams and external business partners, including regulators and law enforcement agencies
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and collaboratively in a cross-border team
- High professional integrity, sound judgment, and a proactive, hands-on mindset
- Fluent in English and based in Ireland
Responsibilities
- Provide expert guidance on MiCA compliance, supporting the team in interpreting regulatory obligations and aligning internal practices accordingly
- Refine and operationalise compliance policies and procedures to meet MiCA and broader EU regulatory requirements
- Monitor and interpret upcoming regulatory developments across the EU, contributing to the enterprise’s regulatory horizon scanning efforts
- Develop and deliver targeted compliance training to staff, ensuring they understand and meet their regulatory obligations
- Support internal reporting by preparing clear, reliable management information for senior business leaders
- Assist in the development and review of compliance-related policies and procedures
- Support the management of regulatory inquiries and exams, including document and data retrieval
- Act as a trusted partner to Product, Design, Engineering, and Go-To-Market teams, helping them structure and launch products and services with the appropriate controls
Preferred Qualifications
- Legal or regulatory qualifications (e.g., LLM, CAMS, ICA) are a plus
- Experience working with or within a National Competent Authority is advantageous
