Join Canva's creative team and help redefine how the world experiences design! This 5-month, full-time contract offers remote work flexibility. As a skilled Copywriter, you will collaborate with Art Directors to create impactful messaging for various high-visibility projects. Responsibilities include developing unique marketing ideas, crafting compelling content across multiple channels, and translating complex concepts into engaging language. This role focuses on partnering with Art Directors, translating complex ideas into clear messaging, writing and editing copy, creating a content playbook, collaborating with the Creative Copy Lead, and balancing creativity and simplicity. The ideal candidate possesses proven copywriting experience, understands brand marketing, and is passionate about creating impactful work. Canva celebrates diverse skills and backgrounds.
Requirements
- You have proven experience as a copywriter, either agency or client side (in-house)
- You have an understanding of brand marketing channels and advertising best practices
- You have a passion for innovative, blue sky ideation and a strong desire to make impactful work that will help to build an iconic global brand
- You’re a team player. Able to work in a dynamic multi-skilled agile environment
- You’re a master storyteller, able to sell the brand and its products to myriad demographics and personas with a consistent tone of voice
- Attention to detail, style and tone. You write with clarity and empathy, and can write in a range of genres, styles and tones
- You have a good grasp of English, sentence construction, and grammatical structure. And because less than 50% of our community is English speaking, you consider the needs of internationalisation in every word
- You bring others along for the ride. Set expectations with stakeholders, communicate openly across multiple teams, and collaborate with multiple creatives to get the job done
- You’re not precious. Open to giving and receiving feedback and can clearly articulate how copy can be improved
Responsibilities
- Partnering with Art Directors to develop ideas and execute messaging that is consistent, effective, and accessible across Canva’s multi-channel campaigns
- Translating big, complex ideas into clear, user-friendly messaging that aligns with Canva’s mission and vision
- Write, review, and edit flawless, on-brand copy across channels, ensuring each asset enhances user engagement
- Creating a playbook of high-quality content for a range of initiatives, from brand campaigns to standalone assets, working closely with designers, strategists, and producers
- Collaborating with the Creative Copy Lead to keep messaging on-brand and aligned with Canva’s evolving strategic direction
- Balancing creativity, simplicity, and playfulness to create engaging, compelling copy that’s easy to digest and impactful
