You will collaborate closely with the sales team, providing legal counsel and support across various areas, including contract negotiation, data privacy, cybersecurity, and litigation. Your expertise in handling a wide range of litigation matters and building legal processes is crucial. You will be responsible for proactive project prioritization, streamlining systems, and ensuring compliance with evolving regulations. This role requires a JD from an ABA-accredited law school, 7+ years of relevant experience, and a proven ability to work autonomously and manage projects independently. The salary range is $225,000 - $250,000, with potential for discretionary bonuses and/or equity compensation.
Requirements
- JD from an ABA accredited law school and admission to at least one state bar
- 7+ years of relevant experience at a reputable law firm and/or in-house legal department in the U.S
- Experience handling a wide range of litigation matters
- Experience handling matters involving data privacy or cybersecurity
- Experience building and improving legal processes
- Bias toward action and solving (not just spotting) problems
- Ability to take ownership of your work and manage projects independently
- Comfort and skill navigating complexity and ambiguity, and working on a leanly staffed team
- Ability to work autonomously and under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Agility and flexibility to take on new tasks and responsibilities when necessary to support the business and legal teamβs needs in a fast-moving, rapidly- scaling, and dynamic tech company
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with Sales organization (spanning multiple time zones) to engage with potential and future customers, review proposed contractual edits, and help negotiate and close important deals
- Provide practical advice on transactional data privacy and cybersecurity matters, including support related compliance initiatives, including with respect to HIPAA/HITECH, TCPA, CCPA/CPRA, and other state privacy laws
- Provide product counseling and risk assessments for the development of new verticals and product offerings, as well as marketing initiatives and user-facing articles
- Contribute to legal strategy and day-to-day management of any pending litigation and investigations, including responding to subpoenas
- Perform corporate day-to-day governance functions, including assisting with the creation and maintenance of corporate entities
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior in-house experience at a technology company
- Intellectual property expertise
- CIPP/US certification
