Summary

Join Garner's Legal team as a Senior Counsel and provide comprehensive legal support. You will draft, review, and negotiate various agreements, collaborate with other business functions, ensure data privacy compliance, and manage legal processes. The ideal candidate possesses 3+ years of experience, a J.D. from a U.S. law school, and strong commercial contracting skills. Data privacy expertise and experience in healthcare are preferred. This role reports to the Head of Legal and offers a competitive salary and benefits package.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience
  • A J.D. from a U.S. law school and admitted to a state bar
  • Experience reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial agreements

Responsibilities

  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of agreements, including MSAs, business associate agreements, vendor agreements, data use agreements, partnership agreements, NDAs, and employment-related agreements
  • Working closely and collaboratively with other business functions and providing guidance and practical advice related to product development and features, internal operations and policies, and day-to-day issues and challenges impacting the company and our clients
  • Supporting compliance with data and privacy-related laws and other relevant regulations by developing an understanding of applicable requirements and communicating those requirements and the related risks to business stakeholders in a practical, digestible way
  • Liaising with external counsel, auditors, and other service providers
  • Managing existing legal processes and operations and helping to develop new processes as the company continues to scale
  • Assisting with corporate maintenance, including board matters and financings

Preferred Qualifications

  • A mix of in-house (ideally at a high-growth healthcare, technology, or other regulated company) and law firm experience
  • No fear of technical, financial, or data science concepts
  • A willingness to β€œroll up your sleeves” and do whatever is necessary to ensure company success
  • Experience working in a rapidly-evolving startup environment
  • Data privacy experience
  • Experience dealing with healthcare, health plans, or other employee benefits and related regulatory regimes
  • A desire to support our mission to improve the U.S. healthcare system
