Requirements

  • Law degree and admission to practice in Australia
  • At least 5–7 years of relevant legal experience, including time in-house
  • Deep familiarity with Australian commercial and corporate law
  • Demonstrated success supporting business development and sales teams with contract negotiations
  • Experience handling corporate matters like M&A, governance, and compliance

Responsibilities

  • Own the review, drafting, and negotiation of a wide range of commercial agreements that support sales, business development, and operations
  • Provide timely, pragmatic legal advice to go-to-market teams, helping close deals efficiently while managing risk
  • Maintain and improve contract templates and negotiation playbooks to enable scale and consistency
  • Review marketing and proposal materials for legal accuracy and alignment with company standards
  • Guide local compliance with Australian privacy laws and lead implementation of data protection policies, including those related to AI use
  • Advise HR on employment contracts, workplace policies, investigations, and dispute resolution
  • Support corporate governance activities including board meeting preparation, entity maintenance, and regulatory filings
  • Advise on legal matters related to the ongoing integration of our Australian entities, including IP, cross-border compliance, and intercompany structuring
  • Act as the primary legal point of contact in Australia, ensuring timely response to local business needs while staying strategically aligned with U.S. legal leadership
  • Provide holistic legal support to teams across the Australian business
  • Monitor evolving legal and regulatory trends in clean tech and SaaS
  • Coordinate with external counsel when specialized input is needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Startup or tech company experience highly desirable
  • SaaS or renewable energy sector experience nice to have
  • Hands-on experience with international business operations or cross-border legal work
  • Interest in legal tech, AI and innovation in legal practice
