Join Hopper's growing Fintech Foundation team as an Applied Data Scientist and play a key role in expanding our fintech business through innovative pricing and product construction. You will collaborate with product teams, engineer datasets, implement ML pipelines, create and deploy models, monitor performance, run A/B tests, and respond to ad-hoc requests. This role requires a BSc or MSc in a quantitative field, two or more years of experience in data analysis and predictive modeling, excellent communication and problem-solving skills, strong coding skills in SQL and Python, and a pragmatic approach. Requirements
- Possess a BSc or MSc in a highly quantitative field like math, physics, statistics, or economics
- Have two or more years experience applying data analysis and predictive modeling skills in a fast-paced business environment
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills and creative problem solving ability
- Possess strong coding skills with SQL and Python
- Have a highly pragmatic approach that values business impact over statistical nuance
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional product teams to build a detailed understanding of business requirements and product construction as it relates to pricing
- Perform data engineering to create appropriate datasets for analysis and modeling
- Implement automated, reusable ML training pipelines
- Create and push models to production
- Monitor pricing models to identify weaknesses and opportunities
- Run A/B tests on new data sources, improved algorithms, and different product levers
- Respond to ad hoc requests from our business partners to analyze historical performance and deep-dive into anomalies or diagnose the impact of external events
