Join Xero's Data & Science team as a Senior Data Scientist and deliver high-quality Marketing Science, Analytics, and Insights frameworks. You will play an integral role in supporting insights and decision-making, leading requirements capture, data collection, analysis, visualization, and storytelling. The team empowers Xero to achieve successful digital, customer, and marketing outcomes through actionable insights. You will immerse yourself in Xero's data stores, extract and analyze data from various sources, work on analysis and productionized models, enable marketing teams in understanding customer behaviors, and continually improve data quality. You will effectively combine data from multiple sources, utilize reports and dashboards, stay current with emerging practices, and present complex analysis to stakeholders. You will also ensure ethical application of data science and consistently apply best-practice techniques.
Requirements
- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in a similar role
- 5 years or more experience in data & analytics
- Must have digital or tech industry experience
- Experience in experimentation design and analysis
- Experience in Marketing Science
- Experience delivering analytics in the form of visualizations and interactive dashboards
- Advanced knowledge of SQL for data extraction, manipulation and analysis
- Data Platform knowledge
- Experimentation & testing knowledge
- Solid Python skills
- Proficiency in Google Analytics , Mixpanel & Big Query
- Experience with advanced Tracking & GTM
- Advanced Statistical knowledge
- Experience with Data visualisations, BI tools such as (Tableau, Power BI, Microstrategy)
- Ability to tackle unfamiliar domains and work with complex and diverse datasets
- Provide objectives and goals with loose guidelines/directions
- Clearly communicate expectations
- Have an open mind and the flexibility to change opinions
Responsibilities
- Provide consulting and thought leadership to stakeholders
- Data is able to be used to create decision making systems which will help Xero proactively manage digital performance acquisition, customer engagement, retention & churn and personalisation efforts
- Analysis and insights presented in easy to understand and visual format
- Deep understanding of the domain area related to the tasks done by the Data Scientist
- Data is enabled to provide better decision making process
- Immerse yourself in Xero’s data stores, wrangling vast quantities of messy and complex data to build a share-able understanding of the structure, content and quality and the usability of the data for data-driven Marketing Science development
- Extract and analyse data from different data sources including Xero data platform, digital & web data (for example, Google Analytics & Mixapanel), to help the Marketing team deliver data driven marketing acquisition campaigns, provide insights in order to support acquisition, retention customer engagement and personalisation , efforts
- Work on analysis, proofs of concept and productionised model & .conduct experiments, analyse results , generate hypotheses and develop data assets to be used in reporting and analysis
- Enable Marketing teams in understanding of the current customer behaviors and campaigns efforts
- Continually feed issues with data quality and data gaps back to our Data Engineering teams and work with them to improve the instrumentation and data coverage of our Digital and Customer data
- Effectively and independently combine complex data from multiple sources and identify new sources of data to augment your analysis
- Effectively utilise both report writing and dashboards as part of interpreting marketing & customer insights for a wide range of stakeholders
- Stay current with emerging practices, techniques and frameworks in the fields of Data Science
- Constantly consider the ethical application of data science and Data Analytics and ensure your code is always developed with the best interests of our users in mind
- Consistently apply best-practice techniques, and produce sharable, reproducible results
- Present complex analysis to stakeholders, in a simple and compelling way
- Deliver deep dive analysis which shifts the thinking and prioritization of the Data Scientist's partner teams
