Summary

Join Airbnb's People Analytics & Research team as a Data Scientist to lead and contribute to key projects, such as survey analysis, workforce optimization, and ensuring fairness in company processes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Talent Leaders, Legal, and Diversity and Belonging. Translate data into actionable insights and visualizations to drive strategic decision-making. Align research priorities with business needs and maintain a customer-focused approach. Leverage academic expertise and knowledge of people analytics trends to solve practical business challenges. This role requires 5+ years of industry experience, a Master's degree/PhD in a quantitative field, and expertise in causal inference, research design, and statistical analysis. The position is US-Remote Eligible, with occasional office work or offsite attendance.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in industry experience and a Master's degree/PhD in a quantitative field
  • Knowledge of and experience with causal inference using observational data
  • Experience in research design and advanced statistical analysis (experimentation and quasi-experimental methods)
  • Ability to conduct statistical analysis using R or Python
  • Ability to access databases via SQL
  • Knowledge of and experience in survey design and analysis
  • Experience interpreting survey data and using it to drive decisions
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to cross functional partners of varying technical levels and drive impact
  • Understanding of the external people analytics landscape and trends
  • Experience working with large practical datasets

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with partners and stakeholders to understand people-related business problems, and gather relevant people data to analyze
  • Utilize appropriate statistical models and data science methodologies to gain insights, explain, or predict a wide variety of people-related processes, such as hiring, promotion, productivity, attrition, employee engagement, and workplace diversity, among others
  • Translate data and insights into meaningful visualizations and stories to drive strategy, action, and decision-making with leaders across the business
  • Align research priorities with business priorities and take a customer-focused mindset in working with stakeholders
  • Leverage academic expertise and knowledge of people analytics trends to address practical business challenges
  • Exercise traits of adaptability and good judgment to support organizational agility
  • Be a constant learner, active listener, and teacher to advance data science, people analytics, and Airbnb
