Join Docplanner as a Senior Design Systems Designer and collaborate with product designers, engineers, and product managers. Requirements
- Relevant proven experience in building and maintaining design systems at scale
- You are highly organized, detail-oriented, and impact-driven, with a strong understanding of systematic thinking
- Expertise with Figma and its design system features (e.g., Components, Styles, Libraries, Variants)
- Strong understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and how to implement them within a design system
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to articulate design system principles and advocate for their adoption
- Experience working closely with engineering teams to ensure the feasibility and proper implementation of design system components
- Deep understanding of component-based design principles and how they contribute to maintainable and scalable user interfaces
- Ability to give and receive feedback effectively, contributing to the growth of the design system and the skills of other team members
- Adaptability to work in a rapidly changing, high-growth startup environment
- Understanding of HTML and CSS, and the ability to communicate effectively with developers on technical implementation details
- A portfolio featuring examples of your design system work, including component libraries, documentation, and evidence of your impact on product consistency and efficiency
- 8-10 years of product experience, including at least 3 years specializing in design systems
- Fluency in English
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with product designers, engineers, and product managers to understand product needs and translate them into scalable design system components and patterns
- Continuously audit and evolve the design system based on user feedback, usability testing, technical constraints, and evolving product needs, ensuring its relevance and effectiveness
- Mentor and educate product designers and engineers on design system principles, best practices, and usage guidelines, fostering a culture of consistency and efficiency
- Advocate for the design system across the organization, ensuring its adoption and contributing to a unified brand and user experience
- Lead the creation and maintenance of comprehensive design system documentation, including component specifications, usage guidelines, and accessibility standards
- Stay abreast of emerging design system trends, tools, and best practices, applying relevant insights to enhance our system and workflows
- Act as a key contributor within the design community, sharing knowledge and advocating for the importance of design systems
- Participate in user testing and usability studies to ensure the design system facilitates intuitive and effective user experiences across all products
- Drive the evolution of the company's design culture by fostering collaboration between product teams and promoting the value of a centralized and well-maintained design system
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with related tools for documentation and collaboration is a plus
- Growth mindset: nobody ticks all those boxes above, but a strong desire to learn and contribute to the evolution of our design system is highly valued here
