Summary
Join Envato as a Senior Engineer and contribute to key initiatives within the Search Platform Team. You will collaborate with stakeholders and engineers to design and implement high-quality solutions, prioritizing work, and simplifying solutions to deliver business value. Mentoring junior engineers and delegating tasks to empower the team will also be part of your responsibilities. This role involves working on a major search initiative incorporating vector search capabilities to enhance search results for customers. The team uses Ruby on Rails or similar frameworks and cloud infrastructure platforms. You will be writing clean, reliable code, actively mitigating risks, and working within a cross-functional team.
Requirements
- You likely have 5+ years of full stack development experience
- You are proficient in Ruby on Rails or an equivalent framework, such as Python with Django
- You have experience with cloud infrastructure platforms (e.g., Terraform, Cloudflare, AWS), with openness to other platforms as well
- Experience with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch, as well as vector search engines like Marqo or Vespa
- You value learning from others, no matter their experience level, and seek constructive feedback
- Collaboration is important to you, and you thrive in a team where everyone shares ownership and works together to solve problems
- You use engineering practices that emphasize maintainability and clarity, applying testing and refactoring techniques when appropriate to solve business problems effectively
- You are comfortable sharing knowledge, up-skilling and mentoring others
- You evaluate trade-offs in your decisions, balancing the need for experimentation and rapid iteration with the operational realities of production systems and a commitment to keeping our community safe and secure
