Senior Engineering Manager

Summary

Join Grafana Labs as a Senior Engineering Manager and lead our Grafana Ops team, focusing on Grafana Alerting, SLOs, IRM, and AI/ML platforms. You will guide cross-team collaboration, mentor engineers, and contribute to product strategy. The role requires strong people management skills coupled with technical expertise in our stack. Requirements

• Have a degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience and have worked as an engineer before moving into management
• Familiarity with running services in public Cloud and SRE/DevOps concepts
• The core focus of the role is on people management, but you should have enough technical skills/understanding of our stack to manage a highly technical team/product

Responsibilities

• Lead Regular 1:1s to ensure your direct reports are motivated, engaged, and learning
• Coaching and mentoring your direct reports
• Providing continuous feedback to engineers to ensure that they can add value while maintaining high standards
• Contributing to and reviewing design documents for upcoming features
• Guiding engineers in effective cross-functional collaboration inside and outside the team
• Assisting the team in breaking down features into iterative tasks
• Collaborating with Product, Design, leadership, and engineers to help define and influence product strategy, roadmaps, and technical designs
• Growing the team working with PeopleOps to attract and hire talent

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with applying AI, ML, and GenAI to solve real world problems for customers
• Experience partnering with Product Management and Design to build delightful user experiences
• You capable of engaging in technical conversations and challenging teams to arrive at strong technical decisions themselves
• You are comfortable working with engineering teams who have a strong sense of autonomy in their decision-making, be it technical or product-focussed
• While you’re great with people and adept at managing relationships, you still keep up-to-date with technical trends and shifts to understand better the challenges ahead
