Join SimplePractice as a Senior Engineering Manager and enhance collaboration and efficiency within the Care Delivery engineering group. You will guide engineers through the development lifecycle, ensuring high-quality software delivery. The role involves understanding our products to estimate effort and resources for new initiatives. You will mentor direct reports, establish effective communication, and maintain strong engineering practices. This position requires a strong technical background and excellent communication skills. Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building and delivering quality products and mentoring other engineers on the team
- B.S. in Computer Science, or a related technical field
- Technical background: Functional understanding and experience with MVC concepts and experience delivering features in a framework such as Rails or Django
- Experience writing clean, readable and testable code
- Experience with delivering ML/AI projects
- Good understanding of database technologies (SQL, NoSQL etcβ¦)
- Proficient understanding of code versioning tools (preferably Git)
- Familiarity with other technologies such as caching, Redis
- Familiarity with CI/CD processes
- Working knowledge of front-end technologies and frameworks
- Soft skills: Strong communication and technical writing skills
- Well organized and disciplined, excellent documentation skills
- Curious about new technologies
- Great listener
- Technical by nature, ability to take big ideas and work with a team to break them down into smaller, actionable steps
Responsibilities
- Have a good grasp of the tech stacks in use
- Work with the product team and other stakeholders to take requirements and help shape them with technical details
- Mentor and guide direct reports
- Setup regular touch points with direct reports and set proper expectations that meet both company and personal goals
- Maintain and add good engineering practices while eliminating unnecessary ones
- Assess and address technical issues
- Help identify gaps in resourcing
