Senior Engineering Manager

Requirements

• Have experience in designing scalable, maintainable systems with a solid architectural understanding
• Have successfully led one or more teams as a people manager
• Communicate clearly, handle escalations effectively, and ensure continuous progress
• Possess strong problem-solving skills, enabling you to troubleshoot issues effectively by asking the right questions and helping the team focus on what truly matters
• Appreciate Product as a true partner and co-owner of software products
• Maintain a relentless focus on end-users, creating customer-centric solutions
• Have a proven ability to build teams, develop individuals, and influence cross-functional teams and senior management
• Are adaptable, able to expand your scope of work or transition to new areas of impact within a fast-moving scale-up environment
• Have a high level of technical proficiency with some of Hippo’s tech stack, including JavaScript/ Node.js , React, and Python
• Possess strong knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and systems design

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of eight engineers responsible for one of Hippo’s two strategic charters
• Mentor both senior and junior engineers, fostering their growth for higher impact and effective teamwork
• Collaborate with talented Product Managers to manage the team’s project roadmap, ensuring a balance of technical excellence, agility, and user benefit
• Influence and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders within Hippo, including Sales, Retention, UX Design, QA, Data, and Finance
• Demonstrate technical leadership with a data-driven approach, emphasizing excellent execution and high-quality software delivery
• Coordinate with teams in our global locations across the US and Poland
