Summary
Join Cloud Chamber as a Senior Artist to create rich, detailed 3D environments for the next BioShock game. Collaborate with various teams, including Level Design, Modeling, and Narrative, to build believable and functional environments. Execute your work methodically, iterating on layouts and creating modular kits. Assume ownership of your environments, ensuring technical compliance and contributing to the artistic vision. Develop processes for replicating successful environments and communicate effectively with team members. Work with Leads to develop world-building processes and maintain high quality. This is a fully remote role based anywhere in the United States.
Requirements
- Experience shipping at least one 3D AAA title in FPS or Third Person (using Unreal 4 or Unreal 5)
- Experience working with Unreal 5
- Experience working within cross-discipline strike teams on collaborative assignments
- Bachelorβs Degree in Art, or equivalent work experience
- Superior eye for composition, contrast, color, and detail
- Proficient in the creation of modular kits and proxy models for high-quality, stylized environments
- Solid understanding of form, shape, structure, and silhouette as it relates to World building
- Solid understanding of architectural structure, special design, industrial design, and the details necessary for crafting the building blocks of believable environments
- Experience creating and maintaining asset libraries, organized by theme and function
- Self-motivated, excellent communication skills, and a great team-player attitude
- Strong organizational skills, with a critical eye for detail
- Ability to establish priorities, delegate, and complete tasks on time
- Passion for working on your craft and mentoring more junior artists one on one or with tutorials and videos
- Flexible and adaptable to changing production situations
- Mature outlook on work ethics and responsibilities

- For candidates located in Quebec: Proficiency in French is required. Proficiency in English is required to effectively collaborate with teams based in the United States
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with the Level Design, Modeling, Narrative, Concept, Combat, and Cinematic teams
- Create believable, functional, and visually strong environments from scratch
- Execute your work in a methodical and iterative way: Gather references, concept art, iterate on layout composition using blocking, create architectural kits and prop placeholders to populate your environments
- Assume creative, technical, and production ownership over your environments
- Contribute to the artistic vision of your space, ensure that dependencies are properly communicated through Jira, and your work is technically compliant according to best practices established by the Tech Art and Core Tech teams
- Create visual benchmark environments and level layouts to present to your team and develop a process in which to replicate those successes
- Create and compose modular kits and collection sets to form dramatic, believable spaces
- Communicate effectively with team members, production, and management to ensure that project goals and deadlines are met
- Work with Leads to develop world building and modeling processes, alignment decks, documentation and tutorials, and ensure that quality is maintained for environment art
- Receive, give, and apply feedback effectively while maintaining a constructive, team centric attitude
- Champion high standards, push for progress, embrace change, and challenge the status quo
- Respond elegantly to difficult creative changes, often late in the process
- Act as a positive force multiplier with a great team-player attitude
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with materials and shaders, knowing what is needed and where to use them for difficult visual targets is a plus
- An interest in relevant adjacent disciplines such as architecture, urban design, interior design, photography, film, lighting, and drawing is beneficial
- Experience working within cross-discipline strike teams on collaborative assignments effectively and constructively
Benefits
- Colorado: $70,000 and $130,000 per year
- California: $90,000 and $140,000 per year
- New York State (inclusive of New York City): $90,000 and $140,000 per year
- Washington: $70,000 and $130,000 per year
- Base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations
- Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards and eligibility to participate in our 401(K) plan, in addition to a full range of medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance
- Employees will also receive 14 paid holidays per calendar year, are eligible to earn a minimum of 15 days of vacation leave per year (subject to proration based on start date during the calendar year) and will receive 10 sick days per calendar year
- This is a fully remote role that may be based anywhere in the United States
