Summary

Join CD PROJEKT RED as a Senior Technical Artist to contribute to the development of in-house tools and processes for Unreal Engine 5 on Project Orion. Collaborate with various teams to achieve creative and technical goals, develop tools enhancing scalability and efficiency, research and integrate new features, ensure high-quality asset integration, identify and address workflow bottlenecks, and write optimized, bug-free code. Provide documentation, training, and mentorship to development teams. This role offers a choice between remote-first or office-first working modes, with flexible working hours and various perks and benefits.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in a technical art role within the games industry
  • Excellent knowledge of Unreal Engine 5
  • Demonstrable experience using and developing tools that help aid the Unreal content creation process (Blueprints, PCG, Editor Utility Widgets, Editor Scripts, Geometry Scripting, and Slate Editor Tools)
  • Familiarity with procedural content systems
  • Experience in tool development and automation using C++ and/or Python
  • Strong understanding of content performance/memory optimization process and procedures
  • Experience working within content creation software (Blender, Autodesk Maya, Substance Painter)
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically to overcome complex technical challenges and drive innovation in technology
  • Demonstrated commitment to taking ownership, setting goals, exchanging knowledge and driving initiatives independently
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with art directors, engineers, content designers, and artists to achieve the project's creative and technical goals
  • Develop tools and processes that enhance Unreal Engine 5 focusing on scalability, efficiency, and ease of use
  • Researching and integrating new features in Unreal Engine 5
  • Ensure high-quality asset integration while maintaining performance and memory efficiency
  • Identify and address bottlenecks in the art workflows ensuring a smooth development process
  • Write high-quality code that is optimized, bug-free, and aligned with project goals
  • Documentation, training, and guidance for development teams
  • Mentoring and guiding technical artists, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence

Preferred Qualifications

  • Solid understanding of GPU workflows (lighting, rendering, compute shaders), especially using Unreal Engine 5
  • Experience in network automation, batching, and packaged environment setups
