Summary

Join our team as an Equipment Engineer and Project Manager, providing support for new laboratory equipment installations and moves across multiple campuses. You will consult on new laboratory and facilities projects, including abatement. Responsibilities include planning and installing capital laboratory equipment, developing CAD drawings, reviewing abatement requirements with EH&S, collaborating with facilities engineers and project managers on RFPs/RFQs, reviewing equipment specifications, coordinating installations, writing maintenance procedures, and recommending spare parts. Proficiency in AutoCAD and PLC programming, along with a strong electronics and wiring background, is essential. A valid driver's license, US citizenship, and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret or TS clearance are required. Compensation includes an hourly rate ranging from $63.83 to $79.80, plus bonus and benefits.

Requirements

  • This candidate must be proficient in Auto Cad and PLC programming
  • A strong background in electronics and wiring
  • Ability to read and prepare electronic schematics
  • Ability to read technical equipment specifications and write maintenance procedures
  • Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • AS or BS Engineering Degree or 15 years minimum experience troubleshooting and repairing the following
  • Process Vacuum Equipment
  • Installing Equipment
  • Understanding Vacuum Technology
  • Electronic Trouble Shooting
  • Working with PLC’s, Abatement Technology, Environmental Monitoring Systems
  • Must have valid Driver’s License
  • US Citizenship
  • Must also have ability to obtain and maintain a Secret and or TS Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Planning and installation of capital laboratory equipment
  • Provide input on equipment moves and installation costs for the Facilities project budgets
  • Develop and update lab CAD drawings to determine floor space, provide utility specifications and information on tool clearance for access, egress and service areas for the equipment
  • With EH&S, review and recommend abatement requirements for equipment with specialty gases monitored by AQMD and require special permits
  • Team with HRL Facilities Engineers and Project Managers to generate RFP/RFQs, job walks and award construction contractors for each project assigned
  • Review and provide input on new equipment specifications to verify if the requested equipment will meet the performance standards of request
  • Work with the Facilities Project Managers, Shipping and Receiving, and Laboratory staff to coordinate tool installation dates
  • Write Maintenance Procedures for new equipment; specifically start up and shut down procedures
  • Recommend, in writing, spare parts and consumables
