Summary
Join The Multiplayer Group (MPG) as our Senior Game Designer and contribute to the development and delivery of high-quality gameplay features for AAA projects with high-profile co-development partners. You will take ownership of core mechanics, create game systems, and iterate on designs for deeply satisfying gameplay. Collaboration with other disciplines is crucial, requiring you to drive development and testing of new features and tools. This role demands a wealth of knowledge in contemporary game design, extensive industry experience, and proficiency in 3Cs game design. Requirements
- Possess a wealth of knowledge of contemporary games and design solutions that you can use to galvanise your designs and share with your team
- Have extensive experience working within the games industry, with experience working on 1+ AAA titles for console and/or PC
- Be highly proficient in 3Cs game and system design
- Have experience in prototyping gameplay mechanics using Unreal Engine Blueprints
- Possess a passion for creating fun, compelling and addictive user experiences
- Have good project management and time management skills with a proven ability to focus on priorities, solve problems, juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines, all while maintaining a positive outlook
- Possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
- Have the ability to understand and communicate in technical language
- Have experience in utilising JIRA task management
- Have experience writing and explaining high quality and thorough design documentation
- Have a proven ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of player character core mechanics, controls and character camera, making a plan for how they should be used to drive development towards the vision laid out by the Lead Designer
- Create game systems that answer the needs of the client with regard to the targeted experience for the player
- Receive, solve and digest high-level feedback into work that the team can action
- Work with production and the team directly to ensure the outcome of your work to a release-quality standard
- Standardise, document and communicate your vision to the game team
- Design features that show you deeply understand the target players and their skillset, and can highlight and overcome obstacles
- Design systems that allow players to plan and execute varied strategies
- Create a control scheme that is both comfortable and easily mastered, from a wide range of existing control schemes, by applying the relevant ergonomic principles
- Define the information needed by the player to make interesting choices and adapted to their situation in the game, interface or menus
- Help test new features and tools for the design team and provide feedback on ways to improve tools, methods, bugs etc
