Summary

Join New Era Technology as a Cloud and On-Premises Systems Engineer. Design, implement, and provide escalation support for virtualized environments. Manage systems based on Microsoft and VMware technologies. Responsibilities include configuring and maintaining Azure VMs, VMware and Hyper-V infrastructure, Active Directory, Entra ID, and email systems. Troubleshoot system issues and implement backup and disaster recovery solutions. Develop architectural standards and provide on-call support. The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience with Microsoft Azure, VMware and Hyper-V, Active Directory, and related technologies.

Requirements

  • Proven experience with Microsoft Azure (both O365/M365 Platform as a Service and Azure Infrastructure as a Service)
  • Proven experience with both Broadcom vSphere- and Microsoft Hyper-V-based infrastructures, inclusive of hypervisors, storage, and networking
  • Expertise with Entra ID, Active Directory Federation Services ("ADFS"), Active Directory
  • Strong understanding of Active Directory and its dependency/interdependency with DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy
  • Senior-level experience managing Exchange on-premises and online, Office 365/Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and other similar platforms
  • Solid understanding of SharePoint architecture, including site collections, document libraries, lists and content types
  • Solid understanding of networking, firewalls, and VPNs
  • Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop and Windows 365, Windows Desktop design, and licensing/usage management within Azure PaaS VDI solutions
  • Strong ability to script and automate tasks (PowerShell, vSphere PowerCLI, Azure CLI, BASH, etc....)
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, as needed
  • English
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administration Certificates, Azure Solution Architecture, SharePoint Online Administration, and others
  • Broadcom/VMware Certified Professional
  • Hybrid Cloud Architecture Experienced
  • Regular use of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment
  • Regular, repetitive movements such as typing, mouse movements, and scrolling. Ability to hear and understand spoken communications, both in person and via remote communication tools (e.g., phone, video conferencing)
  • Ability to see and read computer screens and printed documents, as well as adjust focus. This includes prolonged periods of looking at a computer screen
  • M-F 8-5, S/SU (when required) M-F after hours (when required)
  • Up to 10% of travel may be required throughout the year

Responsibilities

  • Configure, deploy, and maintain Azure Virtual Machines, ensuring high availability and scalability!
  • Configure, deploy, and maintain VMware and Hyper-V on-premises infrastructure, including ESXi Hosts, vCenter Servers, Hyper-V Hosts, System Center Virtual Machine Manager Servers, underlying storage platforms, and backup solutions protecting these environments
  • Configure, deploy, and maintain Active Directory infrastructure, including domain controllers, user and group management, and Group Policy Object creation, modification, and troubleshooting
  • Configure, deploy, and maintain Entra ID in Azure tenants, including on-premises or in-Azure Infrastructure as a Service Tenant Entra ID Sync; deploy Intune, configure Intune policies, and troubleshoot deployment and operation of Intune Policies
  • Plan and implement the deployment of Azure VPN, including both Client-Server (P2S) and Site-to-Site (S2S)
  • Administer E-Mail systems, including configuration of and troubleshooting of Microsoft Exchange on-premises, Office 365, and Microsoft 365 mail services
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues and resolve outages related to both VMware- and Hyper-V-based virtual infrastructures, inclusive of the hypervisor, networking, and storage layers of the infrastructures
  • Design, implement, troubleshoot, and bring into production hybrid cloud environments with a high degree of standards and excellence
  • Define Architectural Standards and Standard Operating Procedures in relation to solutions designed & implemented
  • Plan, implement and manage Backup and Disaster Recovery systems based on Datto, Veeam, and other solutions
  • Monitor system performance and optimize resource allocation and utilization
  • Implement security protocols and policies to ensure compliance with the best practices and regulatory standards based on existing design standards or in concert with New Era’s Governance, Risk & Compliance team’s supervision
  • Provide on-call support as needed to resolve critical system issues

Preferred Qualifications

Cloud Platform Experience with Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and other cloud platforms
