Join Envato's fast-paced legal team as a Senior Legal Counsel! You'll be a strategic partner, providing legal advice and support across various commercial initiatives. This role requires 6-8 years of PQE in a top-tier law firm and in-house environment, ideally with a technology focus. You'll handle consumer protection, intellectual property, data privacy, and regulatory compliance matters. Requirements

  • 6–8 years PQE, gained within a top-tier law firm and in-house environment, ideally with a technology focus and some global exposure
  • Strategic thinker with a knack for solving complex problems in dynamic, fast-paced environments
  • Results-driven and commercially astute, with sound business judgment
  • Agile mindset, embracing new technologies and collaborative ways of working
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, adept at influencing stakeholders effectively
  • Passionate about technology, with the ability to quickly grasp new concepts
  • Proven skills in negotiating and drafting complex contracts, such as SaaS agreements and vendor arrangements
  • Excellent organisational abilities, capable of managing competing priorities under tight deadlines
  • Holds tertiary legal qualifications and eligibility for a current practising certificate in Australia

Responsibilities

  • Provide support across a wide range of commercial initiatives and activities
  • Consumer protection and competition regulation across key markets like Australia, the UK, the EU and the USA
  • Intellectual property, including copyright, licensing matters
  • Personal data and privacy law (especially the GDPR and California related privacy regulations)
  • DSA (Digital Services Act) and related reporting
  • Cookies and related legislation
  • Defining regulatory requirements to support product development
  • Reviewing and providing drafting for general commercial agreements, in particular vendor supply and third party data related agreements
  • Drafting terms and conditions and other related documents
  • Be aware and accountable to your responsibilities in relation to workplace health and safety obligations
