Summary
Join Remote as a Senior Legal Counsel - Employment and make a difference in the global HR-tech space. This exciting role involves providing pragmatic and innovative legal solutions for Remote's products and stakeholders while mitigating risk. You will be Remote's go-to expert for Spanish employment law, advising on compliance and building scalable processes. The position requires deep expertise in Spanish labor law and collaboration with a global legal team. Remote offers a fully remote position with flexible working hours and various benefits. The ideal candidate is an employment lawyer licensed to practice in Spain, with experience in advisory and contentious employment law.
Requirements
- Experience in advisory and contentious employment law including the entire employee lifecycle (recruitment, HR policies, benefits, and terminations are the key areas)
- Interested in working for a tech-scaleup and specifically HR-tech
- Keen to understand a whole range of international employment law challenges rather than just focusing on the territory in which youβve trained
- Ability to learn and master Remote's communication application (Slack), documentation sources (Notion, Google Drive, etc.), and task management system (KissFlow)
- Writes and speaks fluent English and Spanish
- This role is for an employment lawyer qualified and licensed to practice in Spain
- Youβll bring deep, practical expertise in Spanish labor law , including onboarding, contracts, benefits, employee relations, and terminations
Responsibilities
- Advise on a wide range of employment law issues across multiple jurisdictions, including advising on complex internal and external employee matters
- Develop excellent template contracts and knowledge resources
- Ensure Remote operates a compliant workforce across all territories
- Help with strategic thinking around our business model and future opportunities
- Solve legal issues rather than escalating problems
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure timely and effective completion of projects, managing risks and aligning with business objectives
- Contribute to the Legal Team's knowledge base and expertise while working to build your own unique knowledge base within the Team
- Master employment law and contracts for particular region or regions (AMEA, AMS, APAC, etc.) and different employment law subject matters (terminations, employee management, onboardings, compliance, litigation etc.)
- Identify company-wide employment law legal issues and work with key internal stakeholders and external partners to implement efficient and effective solutions
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous in-house experience
- Understanding of employment agreements in multiple countries
- Experience in contentious employment work
- Fluent in multiple languages
- Experience working remotely
