Join Cohere Health as a Senior Manager, Actuarial to lead the Customer-Facing Actuarial Team. Requirements

  • Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation required; Fellow of Society of Actuaries (FSA) is a plus
  • 8+ years in a health actuarial role within payer, provider, or consulting settings, with demonstrated expertise in pricing, medical trend analysis, financial modeling, and evaluating trend management or health intervention programs
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Math, Statistics, Biostatistics, Actuarial Science, or Economics required
  • SQL and advanced Excel experience is required; proficiency in Python or R is a plus
  • Deep experience in observational data analysis with large datasets, including claims data (ICD-10, DRG, CPT/HCPCS, revenue codes), and a high level of proficiency working with medical, provider, member, pharmacy, and eligibility data
  • Committed to improving the U.S. healthcare system, with a focus on ensuring patients receive high-quality, cost-effective care
  • Proven leadership skills, with experience managing, mentoring, or guiding team members. Ability to lead projects and collaborate cross-functionally with analytics, clinical, and data engineering teams to drive impactful outcomes
  • Ability to see beyond immediate tasks and understand the broader impact of actuarial models on business goals and customer outcomes. Capable of developing models that align with long-term strategic objectives and market trends
  • A self-starter who excels in a fast-paced, high-intensity start-up environment, with the ability to work autonomously and manage multiple projects effectively
  • Proven ability to translate complex actuarial analysis into actionable insights for non-technical audiences, with strong presentation and report-writing skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of actuaries and analysts responsible for producing high-quality cost-saving analyses, impact reporting, and communicating Cohere’s value story to customers
  • Serve as the primary actuarial liaison for key clients—delivering weekly, monthly, and quarterly business reviews, as well as ad-hoc analysis to support customer strategy and requests
  • Translate complex actuarial methodologies into clear, compelling narratives tailored to both technical and non-technical customer stakeholders
  • Partner with Clinical Strategy, Clinical Operations, Operational Analytics, and Growth teams to ensure model outputs align with product design, implementation, and outcomes
  • Work closely with Data and Engineering teams to ensure the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) is structured to support scalable and evolving actuarial modeling needs
  • Define and communicate technical specifications to Data Engineering to support scalable, accurate models across customers and product lines
  • Continuously refine impact and savings measurement methodologies to enhance precision, automate reporting, and enable scalable implementation across multiple programs
  • Support junior team members’ professional development and foster a culture of innovation, analytical excellence, and customer-centricity
  • Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation of modeling methodologies, assumptions, coding logic, and analytical processes. Ensure models are scalable and ready to support a wide array of programs, care pathways, and lines of business, including Medicare Advantage, Commercial, and Medicaid
  • Act as a Strategic Customer-Facing Partner. Drive many of the conversations with our customers’ actuarial and medical economics teams to align on Cohere’s impact—financial and beyond. Your work will help articulate and demonstrate both quantitative savings and qualitative improvements, such as reduced utilization of low-value care, better patient experiences, and improved clinical outcomes
