Summary
Join Included Health as a Senior Manager, Revenue and lead the daily operations of the revenue accounting function. This remote role requires expertise in US GAAP, specifically ASC 606 and ASC 460. You will review customer contracts, evaluate revenue streams, and build a high-performing revenue team. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve operational efficiency and mitigate risk. Prepare technical memos, work with external auditors, and lead month-end closes. Analyze revenue trends, build a strong controls environment, and mentor team members. Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance required
- 10+ years of progressive experience within revenue accounting and operations
- Detailed knowledge of US GAAP and specifically ASC 606 and ASC 460 and relevant current accounting rules
- Healthcare industry experience, with a strong understanding of member and insurance revenue life cycle flows
- Experience with Salesforce, Workday, Looker, Athena, Microsoft Suite/GSuite or other large ERP and Revenue Management software
- Experience in Revenue Operations and ability to drive process improvements
- Analytical skills and experience working with Finance, Legal and Sales to identify accounting issues proactively and research applicable US GAAP implications
- Ability to present complex revenue conclusions to executive leadership
- Proven record of mentoring and developing talent
- Ability to remain seated in a stationary position for prolonged periods
- Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate keyboard, computer and other office-related equipment
- No heavy lifting is expected, though occasional exertion of about 20 lbs. of force (e.g., lifting a computer / laptop) may be required
- Ability to interact with leadership, employees, and members in an appropriate manner
- Travel, as needed
Responsibilities
- Lead review of customer contracts to ensure consistent application of revenue recognition policies in accordance with ASC 606 or ASC 460 and preparation of GAAP footnote disclosures
- Evaluate various revenue streams, apply relative guidance and build a revenue team that supports those revenue streams
- Partner with FP&A, Sales, Implementation, Legal and Customer Success to drive revenue cycle operational efficiencies and to provide technical revenue guidance for complex arrangements or issues that impact forecast
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to collaborate on non-routine transactions, new product offerings, and process improvements
- Develop best-practice policies and procedures and drive Quote to Cash process improvement and efficiency
- Enhance existing operational processes creating efficiencies through automation, integration and utilization of Artificial Intelligence, while ensuring the integrity and accuracy of our results
- Work closely with Analytics, Actuary, and Data Product teams to ensure data for complex contract arrangements supports revenue conclusions
- Prepare technical revenue memos and maintain relationships with external auditors, providing pragmatic solutions and alternatives to challenging audit requests and inquiries
- Lead month-end closes for areas of functional responsibility including reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations as well as supporting complex or judgemental calculations
- Lead analysis of contractual allowance, bad debt and payment trends to report revenue and assess value of A/R in partnership with Revenue Cycle Management team
- Prepare revenue reports and support analyzing revenue trends and investigating variances from forecast
- Build and motivate a revenue team and help create career development opportunities within the revenue accounting organization, providing leadership and structure for the team to excel as Included Health scales
- Identify risk areas and implement mitigation strategies including: team structure, workflow, cross-functional collaboration and system and process changes
- Partner with Internal Audit to build and maintain a strong controls environment
Preferred Qualifications
Big 4 experience and CPA strongly preferred
