You will develop and lead our compliance roadmap, overseeing all aspects of corporate tax for both US and Canadian entities. Requirements
- Minimum of 7+ years of relevant corporate tax experience, focusing on U.S. and Canadian tax under US GAAP
- Hands-on experience preparing and reviewing annual federal and state/provincial tax returns
- Strong experience with tax provision software and processes
- Demonstrated success in building and improving processes
- Deep understanding of tax accounting principles, audit defense, and financial statement impacts
- You’re extremely organized
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; including, the ability to explain highly complex subject matter in simple terms
Responsibilities
- Oversee the preparation and review of federal, state/provincial, and local income tax returns for both U.S. and Canadian entities and Consolidated group
- Manage the annual state filing requirements and ensure timely and accurate filings in all applicable jurisdictions without penalty
- Coordinate with external advisors and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations
- Manage the annual tax provision process in accordance with U.S. GAAP
- Collaborate with the Accounting team to ensure appropriate tax accounting treatment of transactions
- Provide oversight and guidance on deferred tax assets/liabilities, uncertain tax positions, and relevant disclosures
- Develop and maintain a robust model to forecast the company’s cash tax liabilities across multiple jurisdictions (U.S. and Canada)
- Analyze historical tax data, legislative changes, and corporate strategies to refine forecasting assumptions and ensure accurate, timely projections
- Present cash tax forecasts to senior leadership and Finance partners to support budgeting, liquidity analysis, and strategic decision-making
- Proactively identify, research, and implement tax planning strategies to optimize the company’s global tax position
- Oversee Canadian SR&ED credit claims, ensuring compliance with Canadian regulations and maximizing available incentives
- Manage the U.S. Section 174 R&D expense reporting process and ensure accurate deductions and documentation
- Work with cross-functional teams (Finance, R&D, Engineering) to gather necessary data and implement best practices for tracking qualifying R&D activities
- Manage Income tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities, coordinating responses and support data
- Prepare and maintain documentation to support tax positions and mitigate potential exposures
- Coordinate with external advisors and internal stakeholders on audit strategies and negotiations
- Maintain transfer pricing strategies, particularly around Cost Sharing Agreements (CSA) and Cost Plus inter-company transactions
- Ensure compliance with relevant documentation and reporting requirements
- Collaborate with external advisors and internal stakeholders to develop policies and analyze transfer pricing exposure
- Maintenance of Fullscript’s compliance calendar including timing and coordination of all required filings
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Finance, Legal, HR, etc.) to support business initiatives and provide guidance on tax implications
- Communicate effectively with senior leadership regarding tax developments, opportunities, and risks
- Reviewing current and upcoming changes in tax laws and their implications to the company
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA, CA, or other relevant professional designation
- Proven experience in transfer pricing, particularly Cost Sharing Agreements (CSA) and cost-plus methodologies
- Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian SR&ED credits and U.S. Section 174 R&D tax regulations
- Prior experience within an online marketplace/eCommerce environment
- Familiarity with Netsuite and strong MS Excel or Gsheet skills
