Summary

Join Smartsheet as a Senior Manager of Subscription Revenue Accounting and lead a team in accurate revenue processing and close for subscription services. Oversee internal controls compliance, partner with other teams, and ensure adherence to ASC 606. You will lead the monthly close process, implement and operate internal controls, and perform monthly reviews of revenue accounting workpapers. Develop and coach team members, establish cross-functional relationships, and improve processes to minimize errors. This role reports to the Director of Revenue Accounting and offers remote work options from anywhere in the US where Smartsheet is a registered employer. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in ASC 606 revenue accounting, people management, and SOX compliance.

Requirements

  • 10+ years experience in accounting with an emphasis in ASC 606 revenue accounting
  • 5+ years of people manager experience
  • Current CPA certification
  • SOX experience is required, whether obtained through public accounting or through working at a publicly traded company
  • Work cross-functionally and collaborate with Finance, Legal, Revenue Accounting, Financial Operations and other groups across the company
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (preferably NetSuite)

Responsibilities

  • Be an expert in ASC 606 around revenue recognition for subscription services. Ensure that all customer contracts are accounted for completely, and following applicable guidance
  • Lead the monthly close process related to revenue accounting for subscriptions
  • Implement and operate internal controls. Recommend updates as needed to improve processes
  • Partner with the Head of Internal Audit to consider process improvements and test controls
  • Perform the monthly review of revenue accounting workpapers and foster a process that delivers the highest quality documentation
  • Implement processes that minimize potential for error
  • Develop the team, coach and retain additional team members as we grow
  • Establish and develop cross functional relationships with key stakeholders
