Senior Operations Engineer

Summary

Join InfluxData as a DevOps/SRE to maintain and extend Kubernetes infrastructure in a remote-first environment. Requirements include production-level experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, and leadership experience. Bonus skills include incident management, CI/CD technologies, Go or Rust experience, and remote work experience.

Requirements

• Production-level experience with Kubernetes and surrounding ecosystems (e.g., Istio, Vault, and other Cloud Native technologies) in production environments
• Previous experience working in an enterprise SAAS company
• Terraform and other automation tooling to make life more predictable
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure with production workloads within managed Kubernetes platforms as well as more general DevOps patterns (e.g., compute, storage, database offerings unique to each provider)
• Being an active leader of a DevOps or SRE group focused on iterative excellence
• Willingness to participate in a pager rotation and serve as a subject matter expert on many areas of Kubernetes and general cloud computing principles

Responsibilities

Maintain and extend foundational technologies to provide highly available, distributed services for InfluxData's time series platform

Preferred Qualifications

• Implementing and abiding by SLOs dictated by mature SLIs in production
• Being an incident lead, engaging multiple groups simultaneously to resolve critical problems
• Working with CircleCI, GitHub Actions, and other CI/CD technologies
• Automating All the Things with great success (or, if not, how you learned from the experience)
• Thriving in a remote-first, distributed team environment
• Working with, or on, applications written using Go or Rust
