Summary
Join Array's expanding legal team as a Senior Product Counsel, playing a pivotal role in building a scalable Product legal function. Partner with engineering, product, security, and go-to-market teams to ensure alignment with global regulations and best practices in financial wellness, AI, and SaaS. You will support product development initiatives, conduct new product assessments, establish scalable legal processes, and partner with the Commercial Legal team on contracting. Responsibilities include serving as Product Legal lead for security and privacy audits and supporting technology licensing and acquisition efforts. You will also draft and negotiate agreements, translate complex legal requirements into actionable advice, and utilize AI tools to enhance efficiency. This role requires a J.D., bar membership, and 7+ years of relevant experience advising financial institutions or fintech companies.
Requirements
- J.D. and Bar membership in good standing
- 7+ years advising financial institutions or fintech companies as a lawyer at a leading law firm or in-house legal department
- Strong understanding of B2B/D2C SaaS, AI, software licensing, intellectual property, and global privacy/data protection laws
- Proven ability to navigate complex business and decision-making challenges, balancing legal and non-legal factors (e.g., culture, brand, regulatory requirements, market landscape, and finance)
- Comfortable learning and engaging with technical concepts and emerging technologies
- Demonstrated success partnering across diverse business teams and functions in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent project management, prioritization, and multitasking abilities
- Ability to work across multiple time zones
- Has used genAI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Writer, Claude, GitHub Copilot)
- Comfortable with platforms such as Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, genAI tools Slack, and CLM solutions
- A belief that AI is reshaping work, you instinctively use it to accelerate everything you do
Responsibilities
- Support product development initiatives and GTM programs to deliver strategic value and pragmatic solutions to our product designers, builders, and maintainers
- Partner with InfoSec, Product, Marketing, Engineering, and Compliance teams in conducting new product / feature assessments and providing appropriate and timely guidance to R&D at optimal points during the product development life cycle
- This includes reviewing customer-facing technical documentation and product marketing materials with designs to ensure our products meet legal, regulatory, market expectation, and contractual requirements
- Assist in establishing scalable processes to integrate legal guidance throughout the product development lifecycle
- Partner with the Commercial Legal team with respect to product, privacy, security, and regulatory-related contracting points, playbooks, deal support, and key legal team projects
- Serve as Product Legal lead for security and privacy audit activities such as SOC 2, HITRUST, NIST, PCI, etc
- Support our in-bound technology licensing and acquisition efforts for use in our products by drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements with key third party vendors
- Track and advise on evolving regulations impacting our products, including FCRA, GLBA, and other consumer protection laws and regulations
- Be open to increasing responsibilities as the company expands
- Operate autonomously by owning workflows and projects end to end
- Embrace cross-functional teamwork and enjoy f working on novel and complex issues while giving pragmatic, business-minded legal advice to help influence the direction of amazing products for our customers
- Draft and negotiate terms of service, privacy policies, and end-user agreements
- Translate complex legal requirements into actionable, business-focused advice that helps teams achieve their goals quickly and responsibly
