Summary
Join Benchling's Product Design team as a full-time contract UX Designer to create user-friendly experiences for enterprise users of Benchling InVivo, a platform enabling pre-clinical experiments for life-saving treatments. Collaborate with customers, Product Management, and Engineering teams to deliver solutions. Balance customer needs with scalable, consistent user experiences in an agile environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio showcasing successful product launches and experience working with complex product architectures. A background in lab work or scientific research is a plus but not required. The role involves defining product strategy, designing prototypes, and communicating effectively in a hybrid work environment.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience* driving the design of software products, ideally SaaS, while maintaining a relentless focus on the user
- A strong portfolio of relevant design work that conveys an ability to ship successful products
- A track record of working with and affinity for complex product architectures or workflows
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain the reasoning behind complex decisions
- Experience contributing to a design system for complex software products
- Experience working with Product Management and Engineering teams in an agile environment
Responsibilities
- Work with Product Management and Engineering teams to define product strategy, scope, and prioritization in a startup-like environment
- Work through product problems from definition and opportunity to shipping features to our customers
- Design and prototype multiple ideas quickly to validate product directions
- Own the design for high-impact initiatives from research through implementation
- Effectively communicate in a hybrid environment that balances in-person collaboration and remote work

A background with lab work, scientific research, or healthcare will serve you well in this roleβbut it is not a requirement!
