Summary

Join Thinkific, a learning commerce platform, as a Senior Experience Designer for a 12-month contract. As a key member of the Design team, you will contribute to the growth and improvement of our platform, focusing on customer experience. You will create compelling visual interfaces, championing an experience that drives success for course creators and students. You will own and drive projects independently, collaborating with the design team and across the organization. Your goal is to contribute to the development and evolution of our design function by creating innovative solutions and delivering high-quality results. You will move through problem statements and rapid prototypes to high-fidelity designs, facilitate design workshops, and influence design direction based on research. You will work within an established design system, advocate for customer experience, and frame your work within the bigger picture.

Requirements

  • Has 3-5+ years of experience in a Product or Experience Design role
  • Shares a strong portfolio of design work that clearly articulates their role in each project and shows their ability to apply critical thought
  • Demonstrates experience in qualitative and quantitative user research techniques and the ability to leverage data to both make and measure decisions
  • Has experience working with various stakeholders and teams including Product, Support, Marketing, and Engineering
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills to host design critiques and present their work to stakeholders
  • Loves to learn and grow! They’ve found (and keep looking for) ways to level up their skills in this field, whether that’s through formal education, gaining professional experience, or maybe even building their own business

Responsibilities

  • Move through problem statements, solution hypotheses and rapid prototypes to high fidelity design in a timely manner without sacrificing quality
  • Facilitate design workshops for cross-functional teams and collaborate closely with other product designers to continuously improve Thinkific's design practice
  • Influence Experience Design direction based on quantitative and qualitative research techniques that inform everything from product innovation, to usability optimizations
  • Work within an established design system, while bringing your unique insights and perspective to challenge and the status quo and improve systems when needed
  • Advocate for the customer experience while considering and balancing differing opinions, especially when deadlines are looming
  • Frame your work within the bigger picture with the desire to make things better — You’ll consider the impact of a feature on our overall product or a step within our process

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing for the needs of scaling or enterprise customers, including workflows involving multiple users, roles, and permissions
  • Previous contributions to establishing and evolving a design system
  • Experience in planning and setting up user research programs and synthesizing research at scale
  • Familiarity with mobile app experiences, having designed them previously
  • A fundamental understanding of HTML, CSS, and Javascript and can work with engineers effectively
  • Experience in conducting heuristic evaluations on existing interfaces
