Summary

Join Temporal as a Senior Product Manager, Cloud Scalability & Capacity, and own the strategy, roadmap, and execution for Temporal Cloud's scalability and capacity management. You will help customers and internal teams scale reliably, cost-effectively, and predictably across diverse workloads. This high-impact role shapes foundational aspects like rate limiting, multi-tenant fairness, capacity allocation, and worker tuning. You will drive roadmaps for task queue priority and fairness, develop rate-limiting strategies, lead multi-cell namespace initiatives, and enhance worker tuning and scaling features. The role also involves developing internal capacity management tools and partnering with engineering, sales, support, and customers. Requirements

  • Deep expertise in distributed systems and practical experience with resource scheduling, quota management, and fair allocation
  • Strong background in cloud infrastructure scaling and performance optimization, with an understanding of multi-tenant SaaS constraints
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes or similar container orchestration systems and their role in scalability
  • Proven track record of delivering developer- or operator-focused tools at scale
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to align diverse teams around shared goals
  • A data-driven, customer-focused, and pragmatic product management style

Responsibilities

  • Own and drive the roadmap for Task Queue Priority & Fairness, ensuring predictable performance across diverse workloads
  • Develop and refine rate limiting strategies across multiple dimensions, balancing factors including diverse customer workloads, margin of safety for system operations, capacity planning, infrastructure availability, and more
  • Drive the roadmap for Cloud scaling approaches including autoscaling and reserved capacity models
  • Lead multi-cell namespace initiatives to improve isolation and resource management at scale
  • Enhance worker tuning and scaling features, including improvements to the Temporal Kubernetes Worker Controller
  • Develop internal capacity management tools and frameworks to optimize cloud resource utilization, performance, and predictability across Temporal Cloud
  • Partner closely with engineering, sales, support, and customers to align on requirements and deliver solutions that scale with our most critical workloads
