Requirements
- Professional backend software development experience in cloud environments
- Experience operating AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud infrastructure
- Comfortable with microservices architectures, and have experience with microservices in active development and operation, at a global scale
- Proficient in infrastructure management and operations lifecycle concepts
- Experience building and supporting the production infrastructure for a large-scale SaaS application
- Strong understanding of platform engineering
- Exhibit exceptional problem-solving abilities with a proactive and analytical approach to identifying and resolving infrastructure issues
- Enthusiastic about adopting the HashiCorp way of building systems, using an infrastructure-as-code (IaC) approach, and taking advantage of immutable infrastructure
- Experience using source management tools like Git
- Willing and eager to learn new technologies and methodologies
- Expert collaborator and are able to effectively communicate across diverse teams and partners
- Have a customer-centric attitude and willingness to enthusiastically support the engineering teams to help HashiCorp continue to deliver great products and services
Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on coding, configurations, and deployment of tools and services to improve infrastructure delivery, performance and scalability
- Work cross-functionally with Internal Platform Engineering teams to align infrastructure solutions with technical and business requirements
- Lead and contribute to multiple concurrent projects, focusing on key business initiatives, abstractions, migrations, and performance optimization
- Design, develop, and implement effective solutions which benefit the entire platform and align with business objectives
- Mentor and enable other software engineers through the creation of detailed documentation and runbooks, by promoting synchronous coding activities, and delivering knowledge transfer sessions across the team
- Advocate for ongoing improvements across the infrastructure platform, seeking opportunities for automation and operational efficiency at scale
- Leverage technical program management expertise, defining technical objectives, leading capacity planning activities, coordinating engineering tasks, and managing expectations to reliably deliver program success
- Regularly adapt to new platforms, technologies, and areas of focus as objectives are realized and new initiatives begin
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent project management fundamentals and a demonstrable proficiency in navigating through project phases and activities effectively
- Hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS and ECS in a professional setting
- A passion for automation, optimization, reliability, and operational maturity
- Proficient in container orchestration (e.g., Nomad, Kubernetes), infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible), and other HashiCorp products (e.g., Packer, Consul, Vault)
- Experienced in working across a distributed team, able to consistently deliver quality results when given a high level of independence and autonomy
