Lead the design, implementation, and improvement of internal IT systems, ensuring they meet stakeholder needs and comply with industry standards. Champion data protection, manage access and identity infrastructure, and guide technical decisions for a distributed team. This role requires strong technical skills and the ability to align system architecture with organizational compliance needs, including SOC 2, GDPR, and CCPA. You will identify and reduce system risks, drive automation, and embed data privacy and security into ActBlue's operations. The position offers a full-time, remote, salaried position with benefits.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in systems administration, with demonstrated leadership on compliance- and security-driven projects
  • Deep technical expertise with tools such as Okta, JAMF, Google Workspace, Atlassian Suite (JIRA, Confluence), and modern MDM platforms
  • Working knowledge of relevant compliance and data protection frameworks, including SOC types 1&11, NIST, PCI DSS, etc
  • Experience with e-discovery, data governance, and data handling policies and procedures
  • Strong understanding of identity and access management, endpoint hardening, and security configuration management
  • Experience implementing data governance controls and helping organizations operationalize data privacy standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills β€” especially in technical documentation, policy writing, and cross-functional collaboration
  • A proactive, collaborative mindset and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex, high-priority initiatives involving multiple internal and external stakeholders including configuration, deployment, and management of secure, cloud-based IT systems β€” with a focus on identity management, MDM, endpoint security, and SaaS integrations
  • Partner with Security, Legal, and Data Governance stakeholders to ensure IT systems meet regulatory requirements and internal controls and proper security configurations
  • Oversee the management of user identity lifecycle and access control, including implementation of RBAC, least privilege principles, and regular access audits
  • Serve as a key partner in data governance planning, supporting technical enforcement of data classification, data retention, data loss prevention, and secure data handling procedures
  • Create and maintain systems documentation, playbooks, and user-facing knowledge resources to support IT operations and cross-functional alignment
  • Drive the design and deployment of IT process automation (e.g., onboarding/offboarding, software provisioning, and compliance checklists)
  • Support internal audits and evidence gathering for compliance reporting, including review of logs, change management records, and security controls
  • Stay current on evolving regulatory, privacy, and security standards to ensure systems remain aligned with industry best practices
  • Act as an escalation point and mentor for junior administrators, helping them grow technical and compliance-oriented expertise
  • Drive IT project delivery in partnership with cross-functional teams, from project planning and vendor management to implementation and rollout
