Senior Systems Designer II

Summary

The job is for a Senior Systems Designer II in game development, working on an AAA single-player action-adventure game using Unreal Engine. The role involves designing combat features, collaborating with various teams, and improving designs through iteration. The salary range is $120,000 – $175,000.

Requirements

• Have ten or more years of experience in game development
• Take risks in order to push interactive entertainment forward in new and innovative ways
• Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Have a strong understanding of high-level design and the understanding of how their contributions will affect the game as a whole
• Thrive in a self-driven environment
• Appreciate and respect cross-discipline collaboration
• Have experience with Unreal Engine. UE5 experience a plus
• Technical experience (Blueprint or other visual scripting , C++, etc) a huge plus

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and maintain core combat gameplay features and scenarios
• Implement combat designs by refining features and collaborating with system and level designers on setups
• Collaborate closely with Engineering, Cinematography, and Art teams to bring innovative combat systems to life
• Lead the development process by setting clear objectives, creating accurate estimates, and identifying key dependencies
• Continuously improve designs through iteration, leveraging feedback, playtests, and game metrics to make impactful adjustments
• Work with external partners to ensure quality standards are met and project timelines are maintained

Benefits

The salary range for this position in Los Angeles is $120,000 – $175,000. The salary offered may vary based on the candidate’s location, qualifications, experience and relevant expertise, among other factors
