Systems Designer II

Summary

The job is for a Systems Designer II at Skydance New Media, a game studio focused on creating AAA single-player story-driven action-adventure games. The role involves designing combat features and mechanics, collaborating with multiple teams, and working in a remote or office environment.

Requirements

• Have five or more years of experience in game development
• Take risks to push interactive entertainment forward in new and innovative ways
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong understanding of high-level design and the understanding of how their contributions will affect the game as a whole
• Thrive in a self-driven environment
• Appreciate and respect cross-discipline collaboration
• Experience with Unreal Engine. UE5 experience a plus. Technical experience (Blueprint or other visual scripting, C++, etc) a huge plus

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and maintain core combat gameplay features and scenarios
• Implement combat designs by refining features and collaborating with system and level designers on setups
• Collaborate closely with Engineering, Cinematography, and Art teams to bring innovative combat systems to life
• Lead the development process by setting clear objectives, creating accurate estimates, and identifying key dependencies
• Continuously improve designs through iteration, leveraging feedback, playtests, and game metrics to make impactful adjustments
• Work with external partners to ensure quality standards are met and project timelines are maintained

• The salary range for this position in Los Angeles is $95,000 – $130,000. The salary offered may vary based on the candidate’s location, qualifications, experience and relevant expertise, among other factors
