Senior Systems Engineer

Summary

The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for maintaining, configuring, and ensuring the reliable operation of IT infrastructure at GEM Technologies, a Managed Services Provider in NYC. The role involves participating in research and development to improve IT systems, identifying and resolving problems, and providing expert technical support to clients.

• Hybrid position – Based in NYC area, occasional client visits are an integral part of this role
• Must maintain a clean and presentable work environment for video calls when working from home as well as in the office
• Core Technical Knowledge: MS 365 and O365, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Cloud Software, Google Workspace, PowerShell, VDI Administration, MFA Administration, MDM Solutions, Experience with NOC software and PSAs, Experience with Microsoft Exchange, Experience with router/switch implementation and VoIP systems, Knowledge of disaster recovery, Scripting or programming experience, Experience with cloud servers, RMM Experience
• Education and Experience: A bachelor’s degree. in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). At least five years of proven experience as a Senior Systems Engineer, with a track record of successfully delivering complex IT projects
• Technical Skills: Systems administration, Network protocols, Hardware configuration, Software deployment, Scripting languages, Security knowledge, Cloud-based computing

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain server and cloud-based computing solutions
• Provide expert technical support to clients, resolving any issues related to their systems
• Analyze and optimize system performance, identifying areas for improvement
• Create and maintain documentation of system configurations, procedures and troubleshooting guides
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in the field of systems engineering
