Summary
Join our team as a Senior Tableau Developer and contribute to the management and optimization of our Tableau environment. This remote role in Raleigh, NC, involves overseeing user access, maintaining system performance, and organizing project structures. You will maintain existing visualizations, mentor users, and troubleshoot issues. Proficiency in Python is a plus. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 3+ years of experience as a Tableau Administrator. This is a 12+ month contract position.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience as a Tableau Administrator or similar role, with a strong portfolio of dashboard development. 3 Years
- In-depth knowledge of Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server, including best practices for dashboard design and data visualization. 3 Years
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the Tableau Server environment, including user access, security settings, and performance optimization
- Administer user access and permissions within Tableau Server, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and data governance standards
- Organize and manage Tableau project folders and workbooks to ensure efficient collaboration and data organization
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency
- Conduct regular maintenance and upgrades to Tableau software
- Maintain and update dashboards built by other developers
- Mentor users in best practices for dashboard development, offering guidance on design and functionality
- Troubleshoot dashboard-related issues, ensuring data accuracy and effective visualization
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements for new dashboards and enhancements, and construct dashboards to meet those needs
- Utilize Python to automate data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes for Tableau dashboards, when applicable
- Create scripts to streamline data workflows and improve efficiency
- Work with data engineering teams to integrate Python scripts with existing data pipelines
- Provide training and support to end-users on Tableau best practices and dashboard functionalities
- Develop documentation and user guides for Tableau dashboards and processes including data preparation, quality control, and standards
- Work closely with data analysts, business intelligence teams, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with business objectives
- Stay updated on Tableau advancements, recommending improvements and new features as applicable
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with other BI tools and technologies
- Experience at a higher education institution, system office, or other state agency
- Ability to read SAS programming to convert to other programming technologies such as Python
- Proficiency in Python is a plus, including experience with libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, or similar for data manipulation. 3 Years
- Experience with SQL and relational databases. 3 Years
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes. 3 Years
