Summary

Join HubSpot's dynamic and growing tax team as a Global Planning and Provision Senior Tax Analyst. This challenging role involves managing the global income tax provision process, US tax compliance, and leveraging tax technology for process improvements. You will prepare and review quarterly and annual global tax provision work papers, calculate tax liabilities, and reconcile tax accounts. Responsibilities also include overseeing US federal and state income tax returns, supporting tax audits, participating in tax planning projects, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. You will identify and implement process improvements using software applications like OneSource and Alteryx. Staying current on tax legislation and accounting standards is crucial. This role reports to the Senior Manager of Tax Global Tax Planning & Reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
  • Minimum of 4 years of public accounting experience in corporate income tax provision (ASC 740) and US federal and state income tax compliance.  Familiarity with international tax concepts
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
  • Willingness to roll-up your sleeves when work needs to get done
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-driven, self-starter, goal oriented, and someone who can work independently to identify process improvements and drive the team to implement
  • Strong oral and written skills with excellent communication skills with the ability to research issues, document conclusions, and communicate findings
  • Ability to work well with others, including as part of cross-functional teams and locations

Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation of the global income tax provision process in accordance with ASC 740 and US income tax compliance
  • Manage end to end tax provision process, including preparation and review of quarterly and annual global tax provision work papers and supporting documentation.  Calculate current and deferred tax liabilities, reconcile all tax accounts, and analyze fluxes for management reporting
  • Oversee the preparation and review of the US federal and state income tax returns as the process is in-housed.  Ensure a smooth transition from tax provision to tax return preparation using Thomson Reuters tools (OTP and OIT)
  • Support and coordinate US federal and state income tax audits by preparing required documentation, responding to information requests, and working closely with auditors to ensure timely and favorable outcomes
  • Actively participate in a variety of tax planning projects, including research and development (R&D) credit studies, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and other strategic initiatives aimed at optimizing the company’s overall tax position
  • Collaborate with the Global tax compliance and operations team, cross-functional teams, including accounting, finance, treasury, business transformation and legal, to gather data and ensure accurate tax reporting
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the tax provision and compliance processes.   Focus on accuracy of the computations, including introductions of efficiency improvements using technology
  • Leverage software applications including OneSource Income Tax, OneSource Tax Provision, Alteryx, and AI to streamline the creation of deliverables
  • Assist with the documentation and maintenance of the company's tax policies and procedures
  • Stay current on changes in tax legislation and accounting standards and assess their impact on the company

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Thomson Reuters OneSource Tax Provision software and  Income Tax (or similar tax compliance software) preferred
  • Proficiency in Alteryx or other data analytics tools.   Basic familiarity with utilizing AI for tax problem-solving

Benefits

  • Annual Cash Compensation Range $100,000 — $140,000 USD
  • In addition to cash compensation, some roles are eligible to participate in HubSpot’s equity plan to receive restricted stock units (RSUs)
  • Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay
