Senior Underwriting Technical Specialist

Join our team as a Sr. Life Underwriting Technical Specialist and support the Life Underwriting Team in post-issue management and innovations in Technical Underwriting.

Requirements

• AA or Bachelor's degree in risk management, finance, or business degree specializing in insurance preferred
• Relevant experience considered in lieu of a degree
• 3+ years experience supporting a Life Underwriting team
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Proficient in use of Microsoft Office products: WORD, Excel, Power Point
• Experience with analytical decision making and critical thinking
• Successful completion of coursework in basic life insurance risk concepts preferred
• Experience with advanced data reporting tools, Tableau and Pivot tables preferred

Responsibilities

• Analyze underwriting results, demonstrating knowledge of risk assessment concepts and processes
• Prepare and monitor underwriting metric reports and participate in discussions related to management of mortality results
• Support risk management through administration of the Post Issue Monitoring underwriting audit program
• Coordinate receipt of medical summaries, assuring timely delivery to facilitate an underwriting decision
• Gain experience assessing the efficacy of risk management tools and impact to underwriting philosophy
• Assist in developing answers to business questions through analysis of underwriting data
• Monitor Underwriting metrics, identifying process improvement ideas for increased efficiency
• Complete ad hoc projects as assigned on a timely basis
