Join Gravie as the Senior Vice President of ICHRA Engineering and lead the development of a new platform for our ICHRA product. You will report to the General Manager and be responsible for building and scaling this platform, ensuring it is enterprise-compliant, secure, and scalable. This role requires strong leadership skills, experience in platform development, and collaboration with various teams. You will manage budgets, resources, and technical risks, while also building and leading a high-performing engineering team. Requirements
- 15+ years of progressive engineering experience, with at least 7 years in senior leadership roles
- Proven success in building platforms from scratch and scaling teams in high-growth or startup-like environments
- Strong experience working in or adjacent to regulated industries such as healthcare, insurance, fintech, or enterprise SaaS
- Demonstrated ability to partner with centralized teams in architecture, infosec, and infrastructure to ensure platform alignment and compliance
- Deep knowledge of cloud-native architectures, APIs, microservices, and secure software development practices
- Familiarity with HIPAA, SOC 2, or similar regulatory and security frameworks
- Excellent communication and executive stakeholder management skills
- Passion for building high-impact technology that improves healthcare access and affordability
- Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science or other related majors
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end development of a new ICHRA platform from the ground up, including architecture, core systems, integrations, data, and customer experiences. Define a multi-year technical roadmap, establish technology governance standards, and manage technical and operational risks
- Serve as the top engineering executive for the business unit, reporting to the General Manager of ICHRA and partnering on strategic and operational planning. Strategically manage budgets, resource allocation, cost optimization, and demonstrate clear ROI for engineering investments
- Collaborate deeply with centralized Platform Architecture, Information Security, and Corporate IT teams to align with enterprise standards on security, infrastructure, and scalability
- Play a visible role in talent acquisition in order to attract top engineering talent to build and lead a high-performing engineering team across backend, frontend, DevOps, QA, and data engineering functions. Establish clear career paths for engineers and empower teams through effective delegation. Effectively develop and lead high-performing teams
- Design resilient systems with robust disaster recovery and implement data governance frameworks to ensure data integrity and responsible use. Ensure the platform is secure and compliant with relevant regulations including HIPAA, ACA, IRS Section 213(d), and applicable healthcare privacy and security laws
- This includes developing a deep understanding of the ICHRA business model and how technology drives revenue and profitability. Partner with Product, Compliance, Operations, and GTM teams to define and deliver features that meet employer and employee needs while differentiating the product in the market
- Establish and manage engineering processes, KPIs, technical metrics, and development practices that drive quality, speed, and reliability. Address and prioritize technical debt while driving performance optimization across the stack
- Identify opportunities for technical innovation and process improvement while anticipating long-term scalability and extensibility needs. Explore emerging technologies and lead the development of a comprehensive API strategy for internal and external use
- Continuously improve the software development lifecycle, manage vendor relationships, plan capacity for growth, and oversee robust incident management and root cause analysis
