Remote SEO Writer

Summary

Blavity Inc. is seeking an SEO Writer for their Home & Texture brand. This remote, contract-based position requires 10-15 hours of work per week, with a focus on expanding the library of evergreen content in the Home and Decor niche. The ideal candidate has digital publishing experience, is comfortable working independently, and possesses excellent communication and analytical skills.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree
• 1-2+ years experience writing for a digital publisher
• 1+ years experience using WordPress (or other content management systems)
• Knowledge of the latest AP Style guidelines, best practices for writing online, and basic understanding of core SEO concepts
• An online writing portfolio demonstrating exemplary writing and content creation skills
• Excellent organization and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to work collaboratively with a positive and can-do approach
• Comfortable performing research to ensure our information is accurate and as useful to readers as possible
• Independent, entrepreneurial self-starter who is comfortable taking on a high level of responsibility
• Motivated to work hard in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and analytical skills; willing to wear multiple hats
• A healthy appreciation of GIFs and Black culture

Responsibilities

• Pitch compelling SEO stories aligned with Home & Texture’s brand voice and tone
• Execute any assigned SEO stories in a timely manner
• Check articles for grammatical and factual accuracy and readability
• Upload articles to our content management system, following best practices for online content formatting
• Ensure that content follows basic SEO best practices, is well optimized, and demonstrates expertise, authority, and trust (EAT)
• Establish and maintain relationships with industry experts by finding sources and conducting interviews as needed
• Research trending and high-performing topics as needed

Preferred Qualifications

Proficient with keyword research, on-page SEO, and content marketing best practices
