Software Development Lead

Summary

Join ShiftCare's growing Philippines-based team as an Engineering Manager! Reporting to the CTO, you will remotely manage a team of engineers, focusing on delivering high-quality software. You will lead the main engineering team, promote best practices, and identify process improvements to support company growth. This role requires extensive experience in designing and shipping scalable systems, ideally with experience in Ruby on Rails, React/Vue, and AWS. You will also be responsible for team health, personal development, and fostering a culture of excellence in software engineering.

Requirements

• Have ample experience designing and shipping scalable, reliable and maintainable systems that operated at large scale
• Ideally have experience in a similar stack as ours: Ruby on Rails, React/Vue, AWS
• Have a few years of experience being responsible for a team (or teams), their outcomes, and their personal development, and have learnt some lessons along the way
• Be passionate about learning, continuous improvement, and excellence in software engineering as a craft, and love nurturing a culture that embraces those values
• Thrive when given autonomy and responsibility to identify problems, drive solutions and bring the team along encouraging a healthy and inclusive work environment that’s both supportive and challenging to promote growth

Responsibilities

• Lead the main engineering team to develop scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems
• Promote good engineering practices within the team and beyond
• Identify and implement improvements to our products and processes to support our growth
• Work on the team’s health on its path to becoming a high-performing team, and each team member’s personal development
• Coordinate the delivery of features from the roadmap through each stage of the development cycle
• Lead by example in terms of excellence, attention to detail, evaluating priorities and risks, designing scalable solutions, etc
