Summary

Join Lightspeed Retail as a Software Development Manager in North America to lead and grow the mobile development team within the In-Store Selling organization. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you will mentor a high-performing team, cultivate a positive work culture, and deliver mission-critical mobile products. This leadership role requires a strong technical background, proven experience in team management, and a track record of delivering high-quality mobile applications. You will collaborate with product, design, and other stakeholders, effectively communicate direction, and track team progress in a fast-paced agile environment. The position is based in Canada with flexible work options (fully remote, partially remote, or fully office-based). Requirements

  • Experience leading a team of developers through successful delivery of software products
  • Experience delivering iOS applications backed by scalable and cloud-based infrastructure
  • Strong working knowledge of iOS development
  • Strong working knowledge of Swift and Objective-C
  • Good knowledge of Structured Concurrency, UIKit, SwiftUI, Core Data, REST APIs
  • Professional experience in agile development and continuous delivery best practices
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • Ability to personally coach, mentor and drive individuals and overall teams
  • Strong passion for continuous learning and improvement
  • A quality-driven mindset with a focus on software scalability and resilience

Responsibilities

  • Guiding, motivating and growing a team of software developers as they solve complex problems in the mobile Selling domain
  • Directly managing a team through collaboration with a Designer and Product Manager
  • Working closely with Principal developers, Product Managers, Designers, engineering leadership and other stakeholders to align on team priorities and roadmaps
  • Identifying, communicating and removing impediments and risks to delivery, within the team and across In-Store Selling as a whole
  • Planning and furthering the professional growth of individual team members, including 1-1s, performance reviews, ongoing feedback, goal-setting and promotions
  • Reporting up to engineering leadership and stakeholders on team progress and status
  • Finding and hiring top talent for your team and the wider organization
  • Elevating the team's performance by sharing insights, adopting best practices in iOS development, and continually seeking ways to innovate and improve our app

Preferred Qualifications

  • Good conceptual understanding of software design and code beauty
  • Experience with local network communication, external accessories (eg. payment terminals, printers)
  • Experience in full-stack application development
  • Solid knowledge of cloud services (AWS in particular)
  • Project Management or Scrum master experience, or formal training
  • Experience in test automation and/or DevOps engineering
