Software Engineer II

Summary

Join Affirm's Merchant Engineering team as a Software Engineer II and contribute to building financial products and features that enhance user accessibility and flexibility. You will design and implement new API and microservice interfaces, manage merchant lifecycle and data, and improve system performance and reliability. This role requires a proven track record in software development, experience with monitoring and alerting systems, and strong communication skills. Requirements

• Have 2-4+ years of experience as a software engineer
• Have a proven track record of developing, testing, and shipping high-quality software at scale
• Have prior experience with monitoring and alerting systems (sentry.io, rollbar, chronosphere, kibana)
• Have experience building thoughtfully designed, highly performant interfaces
• Enjoy leading technical architecture discussions and drive technical decisions within your team and beyond
• Communicate clearly both verbally and in writing

Responsibilities

• Develop technical strategy for broad or complex requirements with insightful and forward-looking approaches
• Participate in the strategic development of methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for projects and programs
• Actively own the merchant data platform and define its long-term health, while also improving the health of surrounding systems
• Collaborate with engineers within our team and across the organization
• Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes throughout the organization
• Architect, design, and implement new API and microservice interfaces to manage a merchant's lifecycle, analytics, data and interactions with Affirm
• Use your technical skillset to find opportunities to improve the performance and reliability of the systems that drive the user journey through purchasing with Affirm

Preferred Qualifications

• Have experience with building Python, Kotlin APIs
• Have experience with mySQL or ElasticSearch
• Have product-centric thinking
