Summary
Join Affirm's Furnishing Platform team as a highly motivated Software Engineer to build scalable systems and data pipelines for consumer credit reporting. Collaborate with Product, Compliance, Servicing, and Credit teams to design robust reporting systems ensuring accurate and timely data delivery to Consumer Reporting Agencies. Design, build, and maintain data pipelines using Apache Spark, SQL, and Airflow; produce high-quality, maintainable code; and work cross-functionally to support key initiatives. Actively participate in code reviews and Scrum ceremonies, contributing to platform improvements. Requirements
- 3+ years of experience as a software engineer
- Proven ability to take business scenarios or engineering problems and design solutions that span multiple software components
- Strong focus on readable, well-tested, and extensible code
- Comfortable navigating large codebases, debugging unfamiliar code, and giving constructive code review feedback
- Proficient in Python, with hands-on experience using Spark and Airflow
- Solid understanding of SQL, data modeling, ETL best practices, and data quality standards
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with your teammates on the Furnishing Platform team, including Product Manager, Engineering Manager, Tech Leads, and fellow engineers, to deliver projects aligned with our roadmap
- Design, build, and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines using Apache Spark, SQL, and Airflow
- Consistently produce simple, elegant, and maintainable designs, writing high-quality code thatβs easy to understand and build upon
- Work cross-functionally with engineering and partner teams to support the design, implementation, rollout, and maintenance of key initiatives
- Actively participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and Scrum ceremonies
- Contribute to platform-level improvements in orchestration, testing, observability, and system health
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Kotlin or Java
- Background in a FinTech or other regulated environment
- Experience with cloud platforms like AWS or GCP/Azure
- Interest in developer tooling, data validation, or CI/CD for data systems
