Software Engineering Intern

Summary

Join Key Capture Energy as a Software Engineering Intern and contribute to a team focused on optimizing battery energy storage systems. This paid internship, reporting to a Senior Software Engineer, offers hands-on experience in software development, including building reports, APIs, and web services. You will apply your computer science knowledge and programming skills to real-world problems within the power market sector. The ideal candidate possesses experience with Python and/or C#, understands object-oriented programming, and is interested in clean energy. The internship is located in Brooklyn, NY, Houston, TX, or remotely with 10% travel.

Requirements

• Undergraduate and/or post-graduate degree in electrical engineering or similar background
• Pursuing a degree in Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
• Experience with python and/or C#, .Net, HTML, CSS
• Visual Studio Code / Visual Studio, Github, Azure
• Knowledge of Client-Server concepts & Webservices
• General knowledge on Cloud Infrastructure (Virtual Machines, Docker Containers)
• Exposure to Object Oriented Design principles, data structures and design patterns
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Interest in clean energy and power markets
• Strong organizational and time-management skills

Responsibilities

• Work with the software engineering director or engineering mentor on assignments furthering the team’s objectives
• Assignments can include contributing to production code, developing test applications, or building out test frameworks
• Create relevant documentation (reports, presentations, or similar) for tracking project progress or technical review
• Develop new features and functionalities in our existing codebase
• Populate, Analyze and manipulate databases in MS SQL Server
• Participate in design discussions and code reviews
• All other duties as required
