This role involves supporting the Illinois Shines program, ensuring consumer protection in the transition to solar power. Daily responsibilities include maintaining knowledge of program requirements, addressing consumer complaints, assisting customers with issues, identifying ways to strengthen consumer protections, and contributing to educational workshops. Requirements
- A bachelor's degree
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in consumer protection, compliance, or customer service with a degree
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in consumer protection, compliance, or customer service without a degree
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to handle multiple cases
- Extensive experience using Microsoft Office (Office365, SharePoint, OneNote)

Responsibilities
- Maintain up to date knowledge of program requirements and procedures
- Work as a member of a high-performing team to help address complaints by consumers participating in the Illinois Shines program
- Work with consumers (both telephonically and via email) on their complaints and help facilitate resolution of those complaints with the consumerβs solar companies
- Assist customers with issues resulting from their solar company going out of business and/or otherwise being unable to continue with the customerβs project application with the Program
- Help identify ways to strengthen consumer protections in the Program
- Document and categorize complaints received
- Draft pre-disciplinary letters to vendors alleged to have violated Program requirements
- Update public-facing Consumer Complaint and Program Violation Reports
- Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for complaint resolution, including communicating directly with solar vendors and customers
- Document statistics contributing to disciplinary and complaint reporting
- Perform periodic review of registered vendor marketing materials to ensure compliance with Program guidelines
- Provide educational materials related to consumer protection requirements and best practices for vendors participating in Illinois Shines
- Contribute to educational workshops on consumer protection topics such as marketing best practices and Program requirements
- Participate in video conference calls
- Manage special projects related to consumer protection issues
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of solar energy concepts and terminology
- Prior experience in consumer protection and/or customer call center operations
- Proficiency in Spanish, including written communication
- Experience with Salesforce
