Solar Project Developer

Summary

Join Nexamp's New England Business Development team as a Project Developer! You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of solar project development, from origination to construction. This role requires 3+ years of experience in solar and energy storage or a comparable field, strong project development skills, and excellent communication abilities. The position offers a competitive salary ($105,000-$135,000), benefits including health insurance, 401k matching, flexible PTO, and a hybrid work environment. The position is based in New England, with options for hybrid work in NYC or fully remote work.

Requirements

• Have three or more years of solar and storage or comparable industry experience in a business development role, with a successful track record in project development and stakeholder management
• Possess strong skills in site origination and pipeline development across industries, including commercial real estate, telecom, or renewable energy
• Be an effective team leader and collaborator
• Have a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

• Demonstrate experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond your organization

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for all phases of solar project development, from origination to start of construction
• Originate and develop distributed solar and energy storage projects, simultaneously managing site origination, permitting, interconnection, tax negotiation, revenue contracting, and other development activities
• Negotiate complex contracts with private, commercial and municipal counterparties
• Close coordination with junior business development staff to develop and implement effective lead campaign strategies
• Develop long-term relationships with property owners, energy users and other project stakeholders
• Effectively communicate with project stakeholders and community members to facilitate project permitting and other initiatives
• Foster support from state, county and local governments, community groups and project abutters
• Manage external consultants as needed in conjunction with project permitting activities
• Actively manage development schedule and budget to ensure timely and cost-effective solutions
• Support internal finance, engineering, and construction teams to facilitate successful project financing and construction
• Develop sales presentations, proposals and other materials as needed to support project development efforts
